Tony Lowe is an
unusual composer, a musician who weaves his talent, heart and
humanitarian aspects of life through his musical compositions.
Multi-faceted, his work spans many genres and styles; from classical to
jazz, from rock to pop, music based on an enviable ability to create and
compose from first imagined concept to finished product. Bluntly said,
he can do it all. This is a rare talent which is reflected in the
melody, composition and overall positive effect of the music; as he
writes, he plays and as he plays he produces. As a producer he has the
capacity to get right inside the essence of the music of others and make
the music work. As a creator, he has the ability to get right inside
the soul of listeners and transform internal energy; above all, his
music has a positive effect, a quality intrinsic to his method.
In this day and age, sometimes this internal aspect to music is
overlooked as we are bombarded with noise pollution and frequency
modulations from a variety of sources, including over-produced and
compressed songs. Too much input from aggravated decibel levels can harm
living tissue, it is essential that the music I listen to moves me in a
positive manner. For this reason people like Tony are crucial to the
alchemical method - taking the raw essence of sound and converting it to
musical gold.
This alchemy can be best witnessed in the musical composition 'All
of the Above', which can be read about at the links on the news page as
well as on his website. I asked Tony to explain a bit about where the
initial 'All of the Above - a rock symphony in colour' concept
originated.
"I was about seven years old the first time I got a buzz from
seeing coloured light with music. I'd been taken to an indoor show on
ice and though the lighting was pretty basic there was something
extremely appealing about this combination. Added to the slightly unreal
look of the ice and the even the spray fizzing up as the dancers skates
cut and spun deftly around the arena, seemed to create a magical
world."
"These days it's well known that colour can have an effect on our
emotions and combined with the right music can be a very powerful
sensory experience."
"'All of the Above' is my gift to the eyes, ears and heart." |
